Hope Veazey, 9-years old, was awarded the Regional Girl of the Year Award during the National Capital Area Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Grand Finale Gala at the J.W. Marriott in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, June 13, 2015.
Hope has been under the care of PSV’s Hematologist/Oncologist Jennifer Dean and the medical team at PSV’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (Falls Church, VA) since her diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in July, 2013.
"I have been Hope’s primary oncologist since her diagnosis in 7/2013. She has been a joy to care for," said Dr. Dean. "She and her family have been very positive since the beginning of her treatment – they have been incredibly supportive of Hope as well as the larger community of children with cancer. I enjoy seeing Hope (and her stuffed Panda) when she comes to her clinic appointments – it always brightens my day."
PSV would like to congratulate Hope and the Veazey family on the award and offer a special thanks to Hope for serving as an inspiration for many children and families in the region.
