Pediatric Specialist of Virginia's Dr. Rebecca Levorson, Medical Director of Infectious Disease, was featured on ABC 7 WJLA on Thursday, December 3rd, 2020. Dr. Levorson discussed a rare COVID-19 complication found in children called MIS-C, Multi-System Inflammatory Syndrome.
Vivian Vesey, Dr. Levorson’s three-year-old patient, became sick and was diagnosed with MIS-C after her entire family battled and survived COVID-19.
Vivian is one of the nearly 1,200 children who have been diagnosed with MIS-C according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “We don't know the long-term complications of [MIS-C]," Levorson explained. "We don't know if they're going to have problems in the future, and so we need to watch these children very closely to know.”
