Where did you grow up?
New York
Why did you become a doctor and why did you choose your specialty?
I like to think there are two reasons I became a doctor. One is my insatiable curiosity. I love being challenged by problems and medicine is a never ending mystery. The second is my desire to leave the world a little better place and to help in some small way make things better for kids.
How long have you practiced in the Washington, DC area and what do you like most about it?
I came here for residency in 1984, met my wife and we have stayed. I have always loved the community of physicians we are lucky to work with.
What do you most enjoy doing outside of your clinical practice, when you’re not working?
Spending time with my family. We love to travel and love the outdoors. On a personal note, I run and bike.
Do you volunteer? If so, where?
I volunteer with global medical teams in Honduras.
