Fairfax, VA – Pediatric Specialists of Virginia (PSV) proudly celebrates its 5-year anniversary –September 30, 2018 – as a leading Northern Virginia-based, pediatric specialty care group.
Pediatric Specialists of Virginia was created on September 30, 2013 by Children’s National Health System and Inova Health System as a unique joint venture to meet the needs of children and families in Northern Virginia. These two pediatric powerhouses combined their strengths and talents to offer the children and families of Northern Virginia access to the best specialty care possible, drawn from both parent organizations.
PSV originally launched with five specialties – Gastroenterology, Hematology and Oncology, Genetics, Nephrology, and Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. Since then, PSV has experienced rapid growth over the last five years, now featuring 21 pediatric specialties, and a workforce of over 325 dedicated clinical and administrative staff members including more than 100 physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and psychologists.
“This fifth anniversary is a real milestone for PSV. Our staff, with tremendous support from Children’s National and Inova Health Systems, have put together a medical group that provides high-quality, accessible care across virtually every pediatric specialty for the children of Northern Virginia,” said Leon E. Moores, MD, PSV Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery. “I am incredibly proud of the efforts of our staff who have built and expanded PSV over the past five years from a relatively small group to where we are today, seeing over 100,000 patient visits per year. Congratulations to everyone in PSV and a special thank you to all of our patients, families, and referring physicians who have trusted us with the care of these children.”
Many PSV doctors have been nominated and recognized as “Top Doctors” by several renowned publications including – U.S. News & World Report, Washingtonian Magazine, Northern Virginia Magazine, and Virginia Living Magazine to name but a few. They are widely known as experts in their fields and work to provide the best care available for children through a unique blend of clinical expertise, innovation, education, research, and family-centered care.
Over the next few years, PSV plans to continue to add to its list of specialties, services, and staff to Make It All Better for even more children and families.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden loss of our beloved Dr. Jeffrey Hanway. Dr. Hanway passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018. He served as PSV’s Chief Surgical Officer and Medical Director of our Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine division.
