Kari Wheeler, DNP, APRN, CPNP-AC, is a pediatric hematology and oncology nurse practitioner at the Pediatric Specialists of Virginia (PSV) Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD). She specializes in adolescent and young adult (AYA) oncology, oncofertility, leukemia/lymphoma, solid tumors, and cancer survivorship. Board-certified in multiple pediatric nursing specialties, she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Maryland, where she was recognized for excellence in pediatric acute care nursing.

With over a decade of experience in pediatric oncology, Kari is passionate about advocating for AYA patients and has authored key publications, including APHON’s Essentials of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nursing. She has received multiple professional honors, including the APHON Jean Ferguson Excellence in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nursing Practice Award.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Kari has practiced in the Washington, DC area for nearly a decade. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, staying active, needlepoint, reading, and gaming, and volunteers with several professional organizations.
