Dr. Shweta Bansil specializes in pediatric hematology/oncology at the Pediatric Specialists of Virginia (PSV) Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD), with a particular focus on pediatric solid tumors and cancer survivorship. She earned her undergraduate degree from George Washington University in 2012 and continued her medical education at the same institution, graduating in 2016. Following medical school, Dr. Bansil completed her residency at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in 2020, where she served as the Pediatric Chief Resident during the 2019-2020 academic year.

Her commitment to advancing pediatric medicine led her to further training as a fellow at Children’s National Medical Center, where she concluded her fellowship in 2023 and was honored as the Chief Fellow. Dr. Bansil has received several accolades throughout her career, including the Dr. David Lewis Memorial Award for Outstanding Fellow in 2022, reflecting her dedication to excellence in patient care and research.

In addition to her clinical practice at PSV’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD), Dr. Bansil has contributed to significant research in the field. Her work has been published in respected journals, including a study on Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma in children and adolescents, published in Blood Advances in March 2020. She also presented her research on generating umbilical cord blood virus-specific T-cells to treat viral infections at the American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting in New Orleans in 2022.
