16 PSV Physicians Selected as “Top Doctors” of 2019 by Arlington Magazine

Pediatric Specialists of Virginia (PSV) is proud to announce that 16 of our physicians were selected to Arlington Magazine’s first-ever “Top Doctors” of 2019 list in their July/August issue, which hit newsstands on June 15, 2019.

Pediatric Specialists of Virginia’s Suchitra Hourigan, MD – Pediatric Gastroenterologist & Director of Microbiome Research at Inova Translational Medicine Institute – was featured in National Public Radio’s Morning Edition article on her clinical research as Principal Investigator for the “Vaginal Microbiome Seeding and Health Outcomes in Cesarean-delivered Neonates” study. 

The study covers vaginal seeding and how the procedure may help C-section babies develop healthy microbiomes similar to those babies born vaginally.  If proven true, vaginal seeding could decrease the risk for diseases amongst babies born by C-section.
