16 PSV Physicians Selected as “Top Doctors” of 2019 by Arlington Magazine

PSV’s Suchitra Hourigan, MD Featured on National Public Radio’s Morning Edition for Clinical Research (Principal Investigator) on Vaginal Microbiome Seeding

Pediatric Specialists of Virginia’s Suchitra Hourigan, MD – Pediatric Gastroenterologist & Director of Microbiome Research at Inova Translational Medicine Institute – was featured in National Public Radio’s Morning Edition article(link is external) on her clinical research as Principal Investigator for the “Vaginal Microbiome Seeding and Health Outcomes in Cesarean-delivered Neonates” study. 

The study covers vaginal seeding and how the procedure may help C-section babies develop healthy microbiomes similar to those babies born vaginally.  If proven true, vaginal seeding could decrease the risk for diseases amongst babies born by C-section.
