PSV’s Elizabeth Yang, MD Was Featured On Channel 16 News

PSV’s Elizabeth Yang, MD (Hematology and Oncology) and Director of INOVA’s Pediatric Sickle Cell Program, was featured on Channel 16 News discussing sickle cell anemia and the progress being made in treating sickle cell anemia whether it’s through medications, vaccinations, or bone marrow transplants.

Gabriella Leach, Dr. Yang’s seven-year-old patient, is one of the small percent of people that have been cured of the sickle cell disease. This is due to her older sister, Breanna, who was the closest match for her.

“I was happy to be a donor for Gabi”, she said. “I don’t know what my life would be like without a younger sister and getting one and losing her would be really hard”.

Thank you to Dr. Yang and our entire Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders team for the great pediatric specialty care you provide to children like Gabriella.
